I have had several interesting conversations since full-time was blown last Saturday. Some have been about referees, some about EBFA, and one about Liverpool's defence. The most concerning, given that we are paying tenants, was with a couple of members of the St. Mary's groundstaff. They expressed dismay at the number of cigarette butts allegedly discarded around the various playing areas on Saturday. Now I accept that Hearts are not the exclusive users of the Broom Road facility but I had to concede that we have by far the greatest numbers of spectators and it is unlikely to be the players who are responsible!
So, simply put, if you have to smoke whilst watching our youngsters exercising their CV systems on England's green and pleasant land (there's a topic for next week - ed) would you please dispose of your fag ends thoughtfully. After all, this is a home for sporting excellence, not beagles with addiction issues.
I will reiterate the same request regarding disposable water/drinks bottles. There are plenty of bins on the site, so let's use them.
