While the Lions dominated the first half, a series of missed chances against a dogged Wokingham & Emmbrook Rangers with the away team putting away their only shot meant a tough half-time talk at 0-1 and a need to get more control and time into a game that could easily have moved out of grasp. Moving from 4-2-3-1 to 3-5-2 gave us more possession in midfield and the time to start making better passes into space. After some good wide play out right, Fin got to a cross first to level the scores. With Kobe getting more time, chances started to flow and the Lions started to box in Rangers with a series of corners and attacking play. Kobe fired in a beautiful strike on the hour to give the Lions the lead for the first time and then after a good 10 minutes for Rangers, Kobe slotted a third to give the Lions some breathing space with 10 mins to play. After some good play down the left wing, Noah jumped highest to head home and put the game to rest. There was some really good performances today - Joe and Jack did a great job in the second half, Sam and Hans played well at the back and Dan again impressed with some dazzling feet and a smile to match. We played well down the wide channels - and Kobe seemed to spend more time on the ball than a seal in an aqua-park. I like it when we score goals - so 4 in a half is a fair return despite the first-half wobble. I also like the fact that I get week off from praising Karim to the hilt for saving the day! MOTM is a toughie - Dan, Jack and Kobe had standout shows today - but I think for a brace and his tireless efforts while being kicked senseless, then KOBE takes the award. So that’s 3 league wins on the bounce - enjoy your weekend!
