Happy New Year!
Tigers start the second half of the season having been promoted to Division C along with FC Bracknell Youth, who by a strange quirk of fate, we did not play pre-Christmas (the match was postponed owing to Carlisle Park being waterlogged).
In an equally strange twist, we find ourselves entertaining Bracknell Cavaliers this weekend. We overcame their junior team, Colts, in the last game of December. Those who were on the sideline will remember their slightly, if unconsciously, disingenuous manager/coach bemoaning the fact that they were several (better) players short as two goals from Eli and one from Gabriel sent them home to lick a 1-3 reverse. In which case, we should expect a stiff test for this first outing at the higher level.
It looks like Coach Wallis can call on a full squad after the Christmas break, before The Africa Nations Cup wreaks havoc for a the rest of January (it's actually entrance exams - ed).
So the only thing standing in Tigers' way this Saturday is the cold weather, Carlisle Park having been under a fairly crisp coat of frost most mornings of the last two weeks. Let's hope the weather warms up to match the football!
