U13 Ligers entertain Camberley Town Rockets in Round 2 of the EBFA Trophy this Saturday. Ligers inflicted the first defeat of the season on Pinewood Panthers to reach the last 16, whilst Rockets beat fellow Div D opponents Ascot United Eagles 7-3 to progress this far. The 9:30 kick-off will hopefully get us away from Lincoln Fields before the rugby hoards descend on RFU Twickenham for the opening autumn International match.
Camberley Town, one of very few Surrey based clubs in the EBFA, has two teams in Division D and Rockets currently find themselves placed seven of eleven. Their fixture against our own Cheetahs was postponed but they are 5 points better off than Cheetahs, having beaten Charvil and Hawley in the four games played so far. Charvil put the Tigers out of the Plate last season by winning a penalty shoot-out having come back from 2-0 down in normal time.
Rockets boast a fairly tight squad of just 14 players. Historically they have had four teams at this age group but this season, apart from the Royals and Rockets, the Rascals have managed 2 wins from 6 in League F.
Ligers come into this match on the back of excellent form having won 6 from 7 and scoring 47 goals in the process. Matt misses his second game of the season, so the goalkeeping duties will again be shared between the very capable and ever-present George and Joe.Toby, Zak and Rufus return from holidays, as does Gabe for just his third appearance of the season . Tommy makes his first appearance after an injury that has kept him out of all but one game so far. Kevin will be back in the line-up with a pair of new boots having missed his first game of the season with a very late withdrawal last week.
The winners of this match will travel to either Woodley Saints Panthers or Whitegrove Tigers for the quarter final.
