No Christmas Cheer For U12 Tigers
Tigers felled by high flying Windsor Youth
U12 Tigers made their first ever trip to high-flying Windsor Youth Eagles Panthers and provided a good performance despite the rather lop-sided scoreline.
Windsor Youth, unlike the schizophrenic team name of their U12s, have had a very good season scoring over 40 goals and losing just twice by a single goal. They showed all the skills and clinical finishing this morning to run up 6 goals in the first half but in all honesty, it was not one-way traffic.
After the difficulties Tigers experienced last time out, this Saturday saw them playing a high line which caught out the home teams' strikeforce at least 5 times. Attacking free kicks were defended well, Windsor failing to trouble Matt in the Tigers goal on either occasion.
Whilst Windsor were seemingly rampant in the first half, George managed to find the back of their net to get Tigers off the mark with his first goal of the season.
The second half saw a much better all-round performance by Tigers, limiting Windsor to just two more goals although Tigers couldn't add to their own tally. There were good moments from all the boys and, in a reinforcement of how temporary the pain of defeat can be for youngsters, some of the boys were frustrated by the result rather than de-moralised.
Tigers have had a tough first half of the season and go into the Christmas break with just one win and one draw to their name. Nevertheless, the quality of their play is improving, it is just unfortunate that they never practice together in between games. Henry has been a big loss to the squad and the boys have had to dig deep into their energy reserves most weeks as there has only been full availability once in eleven games. Rufus, John and George are ever-present and Gabriel is top scorer.
