First play second this week as Ligers welcome league leaders Pinewood to Twickenham Academy for Ligers' first ever afternoon kick-off. Panthers will be eager to maintain their unbeaten league record and also avenge the 1st round cup defeat that Ligers inflicted on them at their Crowthorne home. Ligers find themselves just three points behind Panthers in second place but both teams will be conscious that Marlow United are still undefeated with two games in hand.
Ligers enter this half-term fixture with a depleted squad. Leading goal scorer George L is dashing back from scout camp to play but Gabriel is away, as are defensive tyros Toby, Rufus and Zac. Tommy is still nursing a long-term ankle injury but Sam makes a welcome return following his foot injury. So Simon Wallis will be working with a compact squad of thirteen.
Panthers can select from a squad of seventeen so it will be interesting to see what changes they make from their cup defeat of earlier this month. Meanwhile, Teddington Athletic and Marlow both have relatively easy fixtures, at least on paper, and will be hoping to make up ground on the top two. A Ligers victory would certainly crank up the tension as the clocks go back and we head to the Christmas realignment.
See you on Saturday
