After a very satisfactory win on the opening Saturday, the U13 Ligers make the hour long trip to Woodley, for a first ever fixture with Woodley United.
Woodley United Hurricanes are newcomers to the EBFA, having previously played in the Berkshire Youth Development League. Like Tigers last season, they were in Division 4, so this will be a very good test of the merits of the two structures, let alone the clubs. Hurricanes boast a squad of fourteen players so on paper, the two sides should be evenly matched. Hurricanes lost narrowly, 4-3 to Reeves Rangers in their opening game so will no doubt be hoping to quickly turn their fortunes around and create a fortress at Bulmershe Pavilion. Their home ground is part of Reading University's extensive sport facilities, although some where from the Sportspark. Nevertheless, the club house should be open!
Ligers find themselves top of the irrelevant league table, level with Marlow United on goal difference. Last season's leading goal-scorer Gabriel makes his first appearance of this season but Tommy and James are again unavailable due to school commitments. Last week's penalty scorer Hayden is out for two games and Zac is side-lined by family commitments this week.
It is the first of a number of later kick-off times for Ligers, so it is to be hoped that they respond well to an extra hour in bed despite the car journey, and haven't wasted it playing Fortnite!
See you on Saturday
