Tornadoes on Tour

With the bank holiday weekend laid before us, what could be more perfect than a Heart’s Tour to the South Coast with the tremendous Team Tornadoes!

Arriving at Newlands Holiday Park near the World Heritage village of Charmouth in Dorset, the kids soon realised they were in absolute paradise. Not only were they able to hang out with their teammates for 3 whole days, but they also had access to an outdoor play park (with zip wire!), indoor soft play, swimming poor and jacuzzi and an old school arcade – including 2p machines and a pool table. In addition to this, they had the freedom to roam safely and have true independent adventures.

After a night of settling into our caravan homes, the boys were up and ready on the Saturday for a friendly against Beaminster FC who were wonderful hosts with an impressively pristine pitch! After a 4-1 defeat, the boys went on to absolutely smash an after-match penalty shootout, leaving both teams happy that everyone had their opportunity to shine.
The group split in the afternoon where Dads went off on a local brewery tour and the Mum’s and kids hit the lovely Charmouth Beach. The sun was shining, and the sea was glistening – some got in, some built damns, some threw pebbles, but all had a blast. After coffees and ice creams we made the short walk back to Newlands ready for a planned evening of food, drinks, and well-deserved end of season awards for the mighty Tornadoes.
Sunday saw a slight turn in the weather but nothing bad enough to stop our schedule for the day. The boys played Bridport FC with an astonishing 9-1 victory and many smiling faces as they left the pitch. After a leisurely lunch, it was the Mum’s turn to break away for some quality time at the local Seaside Sauna Haus on Seatown beach – nothing like a quick dip in the English Channel after a steaming hot sauna to awaken the senses!

After delicious pizzas on the terrace outside the famous Anchor Inn, it was back to our vans for a quick freshen up before our night of D-I-S-C-O in the local village hall. Turns out, all you need for a top night with 11 Tornado families is, a sound system, a few flashy lights, some snacks and drinks and a bag of mini chocolate footballs so you can re-enact the human version of Hungry Hippo’s. Wonderfully, the kids created a team game that was appropriate for all ages in the hall area whilst we set up – the rules of which I’m still not clear on! It wasn’t long however, before we were all dancing, laughing, and doing the Hokey Cokey which marked the end of a truly incredible weekend of being together, making memories and feeling proud to be part such a unique and fantastic club.
